SETH RAJKUMAR was inclined towards beautiful things and he wanted to own only those which were good to look at - in figure and complexion. Beauty alone was his happiness and this happiness was his wife KAMLA, who was his life and love.

Rajkumar was dreaming of a beautiful babe, in front of whom even the prettiest of roses would pale away. But Nature had something else in store. On a stormy night Kamla gave birth to a child whose complexion was swarthy and looks repulsive. On seeing the child Rajkumar rejected his own child and told a lie to his wife that she had given birth to a still born child. DOCTOR MATHUR in whose hands the innocent child had taken the first breath was confronted with a serious situation. He was compelled to hand over the child to such a man who was a living example of human goodness. And all this in friendship. People called this man-REHMAT MIAN. This ugly child grew up in the lap of poverty and became a good musician. Rehmat Mian loved him so much that he named him "PYARE". The world did not give him love. People saw his figure and not the soul that lay in. Pyare was deeply shocked and unhappy. His life was drowned in unfathomable sea of tears. On the death of Rehmat Mian, when it dawned upon him that his real parffits were some other people, he was faced with another problem. Mercilessly shattered on the wheel of fortune by the world, he came to Dr. Mathur in search of his parents. Here, KAVITA, the daughter of Dr. Mathur, who adored music was overjoyed to hear the song of Pyare. She started sympathising with him. But Pyare interpreted this sympathy as Kavita's love for him. Pyare was lost in the world of beautiful dreams. But too soon his dream was shattered and on the other side all his happiness of meeting his parents was changed into a tale of tears. These tears were the blood-ful-offerings of his longings and this very sacrifice transformed an ugly child into a very handsome one in the eyes of his parents. How and why is a tale so dramatically told on the screen in a story named "MERI SURAT TERI ANKHEN".
