Cinemaazi remembers Asit Sen on his birth anniversary
Remembering Asit Sen on his birth anniversary; the actor known for his comic roles was born this day 13 May in 1917. Starting his career with New Theatre, he went on to act in over 200 films in the course of his four decade-long career. Debuting with Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zamin (1953), some of the films he featured in are Parakh (1960), Bees Saal Baad (1962), Bandini (1963), Teesri Kasam (1966), Do Dooni Char (1968), Buddha Mil Gaya (1971), and Anand (1971). While Sen often portrayed characters with authority such as a landlord or police inspector, the comic element was introduced by his high-pitched voice and long-drawn-out style of dialogue delivery. He also directed Parivar (1956) and the 1957 mystery thriller Apradhi Kaun? For Bimal Roy’s production. A regular fixture in films over the 60s, 70s and early 80s, Asit Sen passed away in 1993.
