Cinemaazi remembers Sabita Banerjee on her death anniversary

Born on 13 June, 1945, Sabita Banerjee began her singing career with Darwaza (1954). After a short stint in Hindi cinema, she sang some of the most popular Bengali songs of the time. She married Salil Chowdhury, with whom she established a tremendous singer-composer rapport. Some of her most popular Bengali songs were Surer ei jharjhar jharna, Oi jhilmil jhau er boney, Projapoti projapoti, Orey mon gun gun, Durey durey theko na, O sahan gahana badol, Mainamotir gna gunguniye ja and many more.
