Cinemaazi remembers Kalyanji on his birth anniversary

Hailing from a merchant family, one-day Kalyanji was playing an instrument that earned him Rs 51 from a rich man. This was a pivotal moment for the brothers Kalyanji Anandji to convince their father to allow them to pursue music as a career. As the older brother, Kalyanji ventured into the musical world first as a member in Hemant Kumar’s troupe, where he played the clavioline amongst other instruments. Considered as one of the greatest musical composers of Hindi cinema, the duo created simple and pleasing songs with the use of raags and careful use of percussion. The two have made several actors like Ashok Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Mala Sinha, Padmini Kolhapure, Nutan, Nanda sing for themselves. Cinemaazi remembers the legend on his birth anniversary.
