Cinemaazi remembers Rajkumari Shukla on his death anniversary

Rajkumari Shukla, who was known to play supporting roles in films such as Vakil Saheb (1943) and Rattan (1944), passed away this day, 14 July in 1946. She featured in approximately 31 films in the course of her career. Born into a well-known Calcutta family in 1903, she was married but was later abandoned by her husband. Pursuing her fondness for theatre and acting, she joined Madan Theatres, starting her career as a leading lady in films. Excelling in emotional roles, she started in silent films and made a successful transition to talkies. She featured in several memorable films such as Tulsi (1941), Swami (1941), Fariyaad (1942), Chandni (1942), Sharda (1942), Panghat (1943), Badalti Duniya (1943), Man Ki Jeet (1944), and Rattan (1944). Later, she moved to vamp and supporting roles, making her mark with negative characters. She also sang just one song in her career, a duet with Baby Tara in Panghat (1943).
