Cinemaazi remembers Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan on his death anniversary

Musical maestro Ustaad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan passed away on this day 16 August 1997. A vocalist, musician, and composer, he is considered as Shehenshaah-e-Qawwali. He brought the fame of Sufi music to unparalleled heights through his spiritual charisma and distinctive exuberance. Apart from his career as Ustaad of Sufi music, he contributed heavily to Hindustani film music as well. Many of his qawwalis have been rendered by singers for films and shows. His famous Qawwali ‘Tere bin nahi lagda’ was covered by Lata Mangeshkar as Tere bin nahi jeena for the film Kachche Dhaage (1999), the music for which was composed by him. A remix version of the song was part of the film Bend It Like Beckham (2002) and more recently his nephew Rahat Fateh Ali Khan rendered the same song for the 2018 Simbba. His songs have also been part of Hollywood films like The Last Temptation of Christ (1988), Natural Born Killers (1994), and Dead Man Walking (1995). Cinemaazi pays its tribute to the legend par excellence on his death anniversary.
