Mother India was Sunil Dutt's breakthrough film, turning him into an overnight star. But his debut came in Ramesh Sehgal's classic Railway Platform (1955). At the time Dutt was hosting the show Lipton Ki Mehfil on Radio Ceylon. Floored by Dutt's personality, Sehgal offered him the role and also gave him the name Sunil Dutt. The rest was history.
