Cinemaazi remembers the actress Khursheed on her death anniversary. Born in Lahore in 1914, Khursheed’s first film was Laila Majnu (1931), in which she was credited as Miss Shehla. However, some sources differ on this, claiming that Miss Shehla was a different actress. She worked with Madan Theatres in Calcutta, Mahalakshmi Cinetone, National Movietone and Saroj Movietone in Bombay. She remained active in films till the early 1950s, and appeared in her last two films after moving to Pakistan following the Partition. She passed away on April 18, 2001, after a protracted battle with illness.
