Cinemaazi remembers Ermeline on her birth anniversary

Ermeline, the glamourous star of the 1920s silent era was born on this day in 1908 as Sudhabhala in Bombay. She was popularly called the Indian Clara Bow. Some of her popular films are Fatal Garland (1926), Durgesh Nandini (1926), Do Dhari Talwar (1929), Cinema Girl (1930) Draupadi (1931) and Raj Tilak (1931). She acted opposite debutant Mazhar in Fatal Garland. In 1927, she set an example in Indian cinema when she filed a case against Chaturbhai Patel, a cameraman in Shri Krishna Films on the accounts of attempting to “outrage her modesty”.
