Cinemaazi remembers Shivraj on his death anniversary

Cinemaazi remembers prolific character actor Shivraj, who passed away this day, 4 June in 2017. Born in 1920, he featured in close to 200 films over the course of his nearly five-decade-long career. Among his earliest appearances on screen was in Ziddi (1948) and Singaar (1949). He made an impact as a villain in Amiya Chakraborty’s Patita (1953). Playing a range of supporting roles over the decades, he essayed everything from a fakir in M V Raman’s Pehli Jhalak (1955), to the guardian figure and the loyal retainer in umpteen films. He was part of some significant films such as Amiya Chakraborty’s Seema (1955), Bimal Roy’s Devdas (1955), L V Prasad’s Miss Mary (1957), Naresh Saigal’s Ujala (1959), Subodh Mukherjee’s Junglee (1961), K Shankar’s Raj Kumar (1964), Nasir Hussain’s Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973), and Manmohan Desai’s Amar Akbar Anthony (1977).
