Cinemaazi remembers R Nagendra Rao on his birth anniversary

Popularly referred to as the father of Kannada cinema, R Nagendra Rao was born on 23 June 1896 in the Kingdom of Mysore. A revered thespian, the new medium of cinema intrigued him which led to acting in Tamil films such as Parijata Pushpaharanam (1932), Kovalan (1933). He composed the music and played the role of Ravana in Kannada’s first talkie film Sati Sulochana (1934). Eventually, in his career, he took the responsibility of a film director, producer, screenwriter, composer, and actor. Cinemaazi remembers the legend on his birth anniversary.
