Cinemaazi remembers Bharat Vyas on his death anniversary

Remembering noted lyricist Bharat Vyas, who penned the exquisite prayer song, Ae maalik tere bande hum as well as the paen to Nature - Yeh kaun chitrakar hai. Born in Bikaner in 1918, Vyas started off penning lyrics for films with Duhaai (1943). He went on to write lyrics for several films including Bedard Zamana Kya Jane (1959), Goonj Uthi Shehnai (1959), Sampoorna Ramayana (1961), Stree (1961), Purnima (1965), Mahabharat (1965), Boond Jo Ban Gayee Moti (1967), and Bhagat Gora Kumbhar (1981). He also directed a Hindi film, Rangila Rajasthan (1949), also writing the lyrics and composing three songs for the same. Among the many songs he penned lyrics for are Daulat ke jhoote nashe me jo choor, Aa laut ke aaja mere meet, Saanjh ho gai prabhu, Maine peena seekh liya, Tere sur aur mere geet, Aadha hai chandrama, Jyot se jyot jagaate chalo, Jeevan dor tumhi sang baandhi, and Mann ki gehrai. Bharat Vyas passed away on 4 July, 1982 in Bombay.
