Cinemaazi celebrates International Nurse Day by remembering Khamoshi

On #InternationalNursesDay, Cinemaazi thanks the nurses around the world whose tireless work in the most difficult of circumstances shows us the way ahead. On this occasion, we remember Asit Sen’s Khamoshi (1970), the story of a nurse looking after patients in an asylum. Starring Waheeda Rehman, the film follows the transformation of a nurse as she provides care to her patient, played by Rajesh Khanna.

In 1942, Pandit Amarnath introduced the singer Naseem Akhtar to Hindi cinema audience in Nishani. A performer in Lahore Radio, she swiftly shifted to Bombay after her first film and sang for Bhai (1944), Pehli Nazar (1945), Shah Jehan (1945), Keemat (1946) and Ek Roz (1947). Cinemaazi remembers Mac Mohan on his death anniversary

The number of people who became famous from the success of Sholay (1975) is incredible. One of the actors who benefitted from the film's iconic lines was none other than Sambha himself - Mac Mohan. But he lamented the fact that much of his role had been edited out of the film and did not even attend the premiere. He only realised how big a hit it was when he started getting mobbed wherever he went! He passed away on this day in 2010.
