Cinemaazi remembers Aideu Handique on her birth anniversary

Aideu Handique played the protagonist in Jyotiprasad Agarwala's Joymoti (1935), the first Assamese feature film. Handique's journey into playing the character and the consequences she faced is a testament to the struggles of early women practitioners. Apart from the first feature film, she played a small part in Ganga Chilonir Pakhi (1976). In 2007, a documentary entitled Aideu was made on her life.
