A small time thief Surya (Aditya Panscholi) comes across multi millionaire Seth Dinkar Bhai's (Aloknath) daughter Rima (Pooja Bhatt), during one of his forays to rob and antique shop. Rima has run away on her wedding night. In her, Surya sees a way out of his misery. Seth Dinkar Bhai sets his underworld connections to bring Rima back. Police Inspector Vivek (Kirna Kumar) initiates investigation and search on his own. Surya and Rima are on the run. They chance upon Hero (Raghuvir Yadav) whose attempt to rob a bank is foiled by the timely presence of Inspector Naik (Avtar Gill) and Inspector Arjun (Shakti Singh). But Inspector Naik thinks that this robbery was masterminded by Surya.

The cat and mouse game ensues. Surya, Rima and Hero are on the run. Seth Dinkar Bhai's men on one hand and Police on another, are on their trail.

Many incidents later Inspector Naik is shot dead by Surya for attempting to rape Rima. The situation becomes worse now with cop-killing haunting the two. They take shelter at Rima's dadima's (Dina Pathak) farm house. The seclusion and peace of the farm house works as a catalyst to bring Rima and Surya closer. They fall in love. At the farmhouse Rima chances upon confidential files of her father's business operations. She is sick of her father's world. With Surya and Hero she has found the real world. She persuades them to join in her mission to expose her father through those files. The trio busts Dinkar Bhai's misdeeds. Surya, Rima and Hero becomes instant celebrities in the eyes of the public. Seth Dinkar bhai becomes so furious that he hires an assassin to kill Surya and Rima. A father ordering for his own daughter's killing and a humane police Inspector Vivek trying to save them to get them justice inspite of objections from the department. What happens? Whether they are killed?

Whether Rima is saved at the last moment? What happens to Surya & Hero? The climax of "CHOR AUR CHAAND" makes for an interesting and riveting viewing.
