Meri Lalkaar is a story of people who fight against injustice. Ganga (Rohini) who is above to get married to Rajesh (Sumeet Saigal) a police inspector, Jamuna (Sree Prada) who for her has been killed and Aakash friend of Sunil whose mother and father are killed by a common dacoit Mahakal and Thakur Pratap Singh. In the process and circumstances of revenge Ganga becomes a dacoit, Jamuna a pretty thief and Sunil who is a ditto of police inspector Rajesh a tangewala who all adopt this disguise with a hope of catching the criminals. In the middle of all this revenge is a havaldar Tope Singh who is out with a motive to trap the criminals. In the process of their combined revenge there is a misunderstanding between Ganga and Jamuna and Jopura vows to kill Ganga. In other circumstances, Sunil is saved by Ganga and on seeing Sunil she imagines him to be
Rajesh. This in order to find out whether
Thakur and Mahakal were killed?
Whether Ganga was killed by Jamuna?
Whether Havaldar Tope Singh was successful in his duty?
Whether Sunil succeed in finishing his revenge?
