Dr Kurt Radnor is in charge of the Tropical Disease institute in Africa. he is assisted by Kabayochi and Dr. Roy Stark, who works in the native village.

A servant tells Radnor that Stark has deserted his work and is staying in the villa of Countess Sandra Lubeska, a heartless woman who is notorious for her love affairs. Radnor goes to the villa and insists that Stark return to the Laboratory. He remains to upbraid the unscrupulous Sandra but falls a victim to her charms returning to the laboratory next day he finds that Stark has committed suicide.

Overcome with remorse Radnor resolves to carry on Stark's work in the interior where the nagana epidemics raging Sandra genuinely in love for the first time in her life, begs to go with him but Radnor refused to take her and leaves for Nagoru, accompanied by Dr. Kabayochi and native carries.

As they approach the village, they are met by Nogu, son of the native King. He agrees to allow them to stay and fight the epidemic but warns Radnor that his life will be forfeited if the King contracts the disease.

As they near the stricken village, her carriers flee leaving her to complete the perilous journey alone. When the King develops nagana, the natives seize her as witch. Radnor is very angry when he finds that Sandra has followed him. Radnor has not sufficient confidence in the serum to advise it for King.

Sandra fearing Radnor's life steals the vial of serum and secretly injects the King. When both Kabayochi and King die, Nogu decrees that both Sandra and Aadnor must be killed. The Doctor is granted the respite of twelve hours to complete his experiments as he is confident that he has at last secured the long sought serum. Meanwhile Sandra is tied to a post beside the river to be devoured by the crocodiles.

Bent on convincing Nogu that he has found a cure for nagana, Radnor forcibly injects him with the germs of nagana, also injecting himself. The desperate illness that follows is immediately arrested by the use of Radnor's new serum. Overjoyed with its success, Nogu demands that the natives release Sandra but witch doctors over power and kill him.

Desperate, Radnor sets the laboratory on fire and liberates all the wild beasts he has been using for experimentation. During the confusion which followed, Radnor rescues Sandra before the crocodiles can reach her. The escape in a dug-out leaving behind them, the scene of terror.
