Cinemaazi remembers Shakeel Badayuni on his death anniversary
Inspired by Zia-ul-Qadri, Shakeel Badayuni turned to poetry and in the process Hindi cinema gained one of its most accomplished lyricists. His first stint with cinema came with Mehndi (1947), but his first break was Dard (1947) whose songs became famous. He went on to contribute to several acclaimed soundtracks like Mela (1948), Dillagi (1949), Deedar (1951), Aan (1952), Chaudhvin Ka Chand (1960), Gunga Jamna (1961) and many more. He was known for his successful collaborations with Naushad. Today is his death anniversary.
