Often regarded as the first female superstar of Indian cinema, Naseem Banu was born on 4 July, 1916 in Delhi. A fan of Sulochana from a young age, she decided to follow in her footsteps. She made her debut with Sohrab Modi's adaptation of Hamlet, Khoon Ka Khoon (1935) and went on to carve out an unforgettable career. Pukar (1939) was her big breakthrough role. She starred in films such as Khan Bahadur (1937),Meetha Zahar (1938), Talaaq (1938), Ujala (1942), Begum (1945), Chandni Raat (1949), Sheesh Mahal (1950) and many more
