This was their own small world, this village full of innocence and love where Shyam. The son of sweetmeat seller and Jamuna, the daughter of the teacher of the only school in this village. They were growing together and perhaps in the eyes of their parents for each other too. In this world of Shyam and Jamuna, there were no irritants except for Hari. A boy of their age only, who fights with Shyam for every little thing. There were no mysteries in this world except for a madwoman, who ditched by her lover, sings at odd times and rings the bell of a ruin, which was a temple years ago.

Her call to her lover is an alarm bell for Shyam and Jamuna they rush towards the love spot to meet each other every time the madwoman sings ‘Yaar Na Aaya”.

The life was all love and beauty till Hari comes back from his adventurous tour of Dubai. Hari tries to lure Champa. Jamuna’s friend seduces her and even uses a little force to win her over but every time Champa is rescued through Shyam who is very fond of Champa because she is the only friend of his beloved Jamuna.

Hari does not take the interference of Shyam between himself and Champa kindly. He decides to ruin the love life of Shyam and Jamuna. Shyam and Jamuna are unaware of the mechanizations of Hari who is hatching a conspiracy against them with the help of Jamuna’s mother. For Shyam and Jamuna there is nothing to bother about because both Shyam’s and Jamuna’s fathers are for their marriage.

Their marriage is ultimately settled. Shyam happily goes to the town to buy the jewellery for his would-be bride. Hari follows him. Shyam meets a severe accident and is hospitalized, he goes in a coma.

Hari takes advantage of Shyam’s absence from the scene, he manages to get Jamuna married.

Everybody is helpless in the absence of Shyam. When Shyam comes back, his world is destroyed his father dies, his beloved gone. Shyam becomes a wretched drunkard. Jamuna comes to her new home, but even her married life is short-lived. She becomes a widow and the only guardian of her late husband’s three children.
