'Baarish' is a story of Raja and Mona who study in the same college. Mona, the arrogant, rich girl often makes the poor but self-respecting Raja the target of her pranks resulting in the never-ending tiffs between the two. In one such stormy situation Raja is even rusticated from college by the Principal. Mona the orphaned heiress to an estate worth millions, has an uncle who looks after her business and home. The uncle's son Ravi returns from abroad and is anxious to find a place in the heart of his childhood sweet heart.. Mona. His father i.e. Mona's uncle, too has a similar dream.

In an attempt to further tease Raja, Mona deliberately socialises with Ravi hereby further encouraging the silent lover's feelings. But soon the journey of love finds its correct destination with Raja and Mona discovering their hidden love for each other. And Ravi realises that his childhood dream was just a dream.

Ravi leaves the city much against the wishes of his father, and then the cobwebs of conspiracy spread by a strong evil element set in. Raja is accused by a girl Maria for a crime he has not committed. An arrest follows and subsequently Mona is the victim of a dramatic tragedy, the dimensions of which have never before been witnessed on the Indian Screen.

Time passes, Raja is released; Mona survives but is still in a semi-coma state; and Ravi returns as a police office to try and rescue his childhood dream. However it is the memories of her past love which Raja persistently places before her, that bring Mona into a completely conscious condition. And she makes a revelation which sends shock-waves in the lives of Raja, Ravi and her uncle.

The forces of destruction intensify their influence over the helpless lives. The soul-shattering climax sees emotions bursting into action. Eventually Good Triumphs over Evil, but not before the cloudburst of violence has caused a Shower of Blood.
