Sunil, (Kishore Kumar), the only son of a rich family, attended Arts College where he spent more time in teasing girls than his studies. His uncle, Rai Saheb (S. Bannerji) was at his wits end as to how to deal with the complaints from College girls fathers. Rai Saheb’s friend Shekhar (Iftekhar) hit upon the ideal solution—get Sunil married—Rai Saheb immediately arranged for a marriage between Sunil and a village girl. Sunil fled from the marriage scene.

Mumta (Mumtaz) was a new entrant in the Arts College. She was very conceited and did not encourage Sunil or his pranks which she put a stop to, by giving him a sound slap. However, Mumta’s anger towards Sunil gave way to love.

Rekha (Padma Khanna) the Lady Doctor was murdered by Sunil. How did Sunil beat the murder Charge?

What happened to Sunil’s village wife? Whether Sunil and Mumta were united? How did Sunil, who fooled each and every one, himself became a fool?

All this is disclosed on the screen in ‘PYAR DIWANA’.
