In Calcutta, Devdas befriends a prostitute called Chandra and takes to drinking when he hears about Paro’s marriage. Chandra falls for Devdas and tries to help him out of his misery, but is unable to do so. When Parbati hears about Devdas’s condition, she decides to visit him.
