Renowned film editor and sound engineer, Moosa Mansoor was born on 16 August 1917 in Billimora, Gujarat. He joined the film industry in 1936. He worked for Sagar Movietone and National Studios, Bombay. He later joined Kardar Studios in 1942 in Bombay.
He edited films like M Sadiq’s superhit Rattan (1944), Dard (1947), Paras (1949), Pardes (1950), Sabak (1950), Babul (1950), Kale Badal, Khazana, Saiyan (all 1951), Rail Ka Dibba (1953) and Masoom (1960). He worked with M Sadiq again in the memorable historical Taj Mahal (1963), and with A Shamsheer in Dayar-e-Madina (1975). Alongside this, he was also the sound editor for the film Bahu Begum (1967).
In 1961, he won the Filmfare award for Best Editing for his stellar work in the film Kohinoor (1960) directed by S U Sunny.
