The story of "Around The World" revolves around the life of Raj Singh (Raj Kapoor), a kind-hearted man living with his wealthy uncle J J Singh (Raj Mehra) who travels around the world for business purposes. He calls him to Tokyo for the business purpose but his employee Pran (Pran), who has been asked to take care of Raj's travel needs, decides to sabotage this trip in order to embarrass Raj.

Pran, an evil man jealous of Raj sends him to Tokyo but don't book a hotel and return flight and sends his uncle to Europe, leading him struck in Tokyo with a penny in hand.

When Raj lands at Tokyo, he misses his uncle, who has had a change in plans, and is now in Europe. Raj must re-book his flight to go to Europe. But Raj finds that he has no money for an air-ticket to go anywhere. All he has is $8 American dollars, which will not even be able to buy him a meal in Japan.

However, he meets with Rita (Rajshree), a sweet girl and falls in love with her, and works on a ferry, leading to consequences.
