Avinash is a straightforward lecturer at the Sir K.K. Shukla College of Law. Unable to bear the behavior of his unruly students he teaches them a bloody lesson. But the law holds Avinash guilty and sentences him to six days of imprisonment.

After being released from the prison Avinash has a show down with the chief trustee of the college, Sir, K.K. Shukla and he resigns.

Even after Avinash with his mother comes to Bombay the shadow of Sir K.K. Shukla follows him and everywhere he goes for a job he is refused because of his criminal record.

One day, Avinash comes across the underworld don Agnihotri and his brother, but he rejects their invitation to join them to their underworld activities.

Hard pressed, Avinash joins Agnihotri and he is employed in a hotel which Agnihotri uses as his front. Hotel dancer Sonia falls in love with Avinash to the bitterness of Agnihotri’s brother.

Later Avinash comes to know that Sir K.K. Shukla and Agnihotri work hand in glove. But before Avinash hasz a chance to leave the job Agnihotri invites him to a ship in order to eliminate him. Avinash, however, escapes.

But Agnihotri’s brother takes revenge by raping Avinash’s beloved Sonia who jumps to death. Avinash retaliates by killing Agnihotri’s brother. Agnihotri holds Avinash’s mother and the blind sister hostages. In order to release his mother and sister Avinash owns up the blame for the death of Sonia and Agnihotri’s brother.

The court sends Avinash to the gallows.
