SAAS BHI KABHI BAHU THI is based on the eternal conflict between the mother-in-law and the daughter-in-law in a family and the problems it creates.

Sadhana (Leena Chandavarkar) as the new bride of Dilip (Sanjay) enters the home of her father-in-law, Motilal (Om Prakash) and tries to sprinkle the flowers of happiness in her new home and to bring about smiles all around her. However she finds a discordant note in the attitude of Motilal towards his wife Maya Devi (Shashikala) and when she learns the reason, her own mental attitude undergoes a subtle change and becomes a fertile soil for seeds of misunderstanding to thrive on.

Sadhana's mother Bhagmati (Lalita Pawar) with her mischievous interference in the affairs of Motilal's home completes the havoc. Further complications are thrown in by the determined efforts of Bhagmati to keep her own daughter-in-law Lajwanti (Anupama) and son Kanhaiya (Jagdeep) apart and by Kanhaiya's ultimate rebellion against her tyrannical dominance.

How these warring elements finally resolve themselves to culminate into a closer under-standing and mutual tolerance to make a happy and united family forms the structure of a thrilling and drama-laden climax.
