Pasha (Danny) is a king of crime. To escape the eyes of law, he marries Sharda (Sarla Yevlekar) who is an honest jailor's (Pran) sister. The jailor realises the motive of Pasha. But Sharda severs her relationship with her brother. After she gives birth to a child, Pasha deserts her. Sharda leaves her child in the hands of her brother and dies. The jailor brings up Sharda's son Vijay (Chunkey Panday) along with his own son Ashok (Sunny Deol). Both love Aarti (Neelam).

The jailor arrests Pasha in connection with a crime. In retaliation, Pasha breaks jail and kidnapped Ashok. Ashok loses his memory. Now Pasha takes the advantage of Ashok's loosing memory and makes him Suraj, a thief. Suraj thinks that he is son of Pasha and follows in his footsteps in the world of crime. where as Vijay becomes a police inspector.

While in Jail Suraj befriends famous criminal Vishna (Shakti Kapoor). One day Suraj was beaten up by the jailor who is not aware of the fact that Suraj is his son. Pasha is happy at the turn of events. Suraj out of the jail, he befriends Aarti. Aarti now realises that she is in the love with Suraj.

Suraj commits one theft. Vijay arrests him but Pasha rescues him. Aarti learns that Suraj is a thief. Bonded by love of Aarti Suraj decides to give up crime. Jailor's daughter Rubina comes across Suraj who makes her his raakhee sister not knowing that she is own sister. Now Vijay stealthily harreses Suraj, and Suraj thinks that Aarti has a hand they fall apart.

Aarti 's mother Seema decides to marry off Aarti to Vijay .while, Pasha handsover to Police a list of the crimes commited by Suraj and informed the jailor that Suraj is his long lost son. Vijay realises that Pasha is his father. Vishna Kidnapped Aarti to take revenge of Suraj. A series of crises arise in the world of honest lovers and there is a confrontation between crime on one side and love and law an the other side.
