An upright truck driver Dharma Singh (Dara Singh) shelters a helpless juvenile orphan Veera and treats him as his own, alongwith his son Raja. Dharma Singh's honesty stretches to the extent of getting his wicked brother Kaalia (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) arrested for anti-national activities. Enraged, Kaalia's associate Mangal Singh (Amrish Puri) exterminates Dharma Singh and his wife Shanti (Bina) and abandons their infant daughter Sonia.

Under Veera's (Dharmandra) care, Raja (Chunkey) grows up to be honest, tough youth. Sonia (Sonam) is brought up by an eccentric police officer Karamchand (Anupam Kher).

Raja rescues Sonia from a hoodlum Prince (Tej Sapru), who is the son of an underworld character Zebran, whose boss is Santhaal. Santhaal is none other than Mangal Singh, who is helped in his evil deeds by a corrupt police officer Satyaprakash (Mangal Dhillon) and Prince's father Zebran (Sharat Saxena).

Kaalia returns from jail and is out to get Veera, who is hooked by a petite beauty Geeta (Sridevi). Kaalia designs to split Raja and Veera and usurp their property. Under his evil influence, Raja throws Veera out of his house and joins hands with Kaalia & Santhaal.

Along with Geeta, Veera prepares to face the challenge posed by Kaalia and Santhaal. He launches a deadly battle against these perpetrators of evil. In the process, some intermittently intriguing situations are unfolded, which will rip the carpet off your feet in the explosive climax 'Nakabandi'.
