Village Simpleton Dharmu (Raj Babbar) marries village girl Shalu (Anita Raj). Shalu falls in the trap of pimp (Jagdeep) & leaves village- comes to Mumbai. Dharmu comes to know that his was not a marriage but a film shooting. Dharmu comes to Mumbai in search of Shalu. There he meets Pyare Khan Pathan (Danny) as a friend who helps him. In this stranger city Dharmu is trapped in the murder case of owner of Manik Transport and is to be hanged to death. This thing comes to the knowledge of (Asha Parekh) whom he considers his sister who tries to rescue Dharmu with help of Government advocate, but in vain... Shalu is trapped by Joseph (Shakti Kapoor) and is addicted to drugs because the pimp has put her in wrong hands. How two friends free Shalu from the trap of these wrong people and give her a new lease of life?
