Rakesh knew not what adventure lay in store for him across the Howrah Bridge. He had rushed to Calcutta from Rangoon on receipt of the news that his elder brother had met a gruesome end in the great metropolis, the body being found on the bridge.

Rakesh has sworn to track down the killer and recover the Chinese Dragon, treasured family heirloom stolen by the murderers.

Rakesh's search led him into contact with various interesting people. There was Piarelal, feared overlord of the underworld. And Chiang, mysterious Chinese hotelier. Joe, riverside cafe manager. And then there was Edna, Joe's beautiful daughter who at the very first sight, had fallen madly in love with Rakesh.
