SAMEER was a painter and Niloo was a mountain belle. This first meeting of Sameer and Niloo took place on the banks of a lake, where Nioo used to feed the fish. Sameer longed to paint her and she readily agreed. As the portrait was over, he wanted to give Niloo a pleasant surprise by showing his masterpiece to her. But alas, his dream was shattered as he learnt that poor Niloo was a blind girl. Sameer got much upset at this nature's cruel joke.
Sameer belonged to a rich family. He was lone heir to huge estate and was the only son of his widowed mother, Rani Ma. Sameer's mother dreamt of getting her only son married to Jugnu, the daughter of her faithful Dewan. But Sameer had lost his heart to Niloo and preferred her in comparison to Jugnu.
After some time, the father of Niloo died, leaving Niloo an orphan. Sameer brought her to his home much to the chagrin and displeasure of his mother Rani Ma and Jugnu. The sympathy of Sameer for Niloo gradually developed into love, which Jugnu could not fail to notice. Jugnu tried to take help of Rani Ma but Rani Ma was helpless, due to her love for her son Sameer. Sameer learnt that Niloo was not born blind. He made up his mind to get her eye sight restored through operation. Niloo was admitted for operation in the clinic of Dr. Tandon. But as Rani Ma learnt that after the operation turned out as successful and the eye sight of Niloo restored, it would become impossible for her to come in the way of the lovers. Rani Ma hit upon a plan. She met Niloo in the clinic and instigated her against coming in the way of Jugnu who loved Sameer deeply and was to marry him. Rani Ma advised Niloo not to cherish dreams of marrying Sameer, as she could never be expected to become the bride of the house. Niloo made up her mind to do as Rani Ma had told her to do, and forget all about Sameer.
On the day when the bandage was removed from the eyes of Niloo, she lied to the doctor that she was still blind, although she able to see. She decided her fate in favour of Pratap, the good for nothing vagabond step brother of Sameer. Pratap played a clever trick and produced Haria, a village yokel as the husband of Niloo, who had allegedly abandoned her owing to her being blind. Niloo resigned herself to her fate and agreed to go along with Haria as his wife. This incident broke the heart of Sameer who left the place for a unknown destination.
As Niloo reached her village and wanted to part company with Pratap and Haria with gratitude, Haria caught hold of her forcibly and locked her in his house. Sameer in the meantime had a chance meeting with Jugnu. When Sameer asked about the marriage of Niloo with Haria, Jugnu told him the truth that Niloo was never married to anybody. Sameer got the idea that Niloo acted strangely only because she wanted to get away from him.
Sameer made a bee line for Pratap's house, but as he entered the house he found Pratap murdered with Niloo's necklace lying near his body. He was lost in deep thought as to how a blind girl could have committed murder and why, when Haria entered with police. Sameer escaped through the window and kept searching for evidence, which could saved Niloo.
Who murdered Pratap?
How was the murderer caught?
The answers to these baffling questions can be found on the Silver Screen by seeing "JHEEL KE US PAAR".
